Shamans is the volumetric portrait of 4 artists living and working in London, UK. Angel Ito, originally from Puerto Rico, is a dancer, performer, actor and painter, that has spent many years living in the UK. Jonathan Armour is a digital artist and performer, whose specialty is virtual reality. Stefan Djokic is an experimental fashion designer finishing his MA at St Martin’s College. Josh Quinton is a model, DJ and fashion icon that works from time to time at the Retro Bar, where we met. Each one represents their own very unique style. This project was created with the XBox Kinect, volumetric sensor, and code written in Processing 3.0. The sound is composed and produced by Antenor Ferreira, experimental musician and percussionist from Brazil.
The still frames that compose the video are captured with the Kinect, a volumetric sensor, using Processing 3.0, then compiled in After Effects, for a final edition in Premiere, in order to control the speed and the layering. There are no post-production filters to generate the visuals, just luma keying and traditional editing techniques.
